Web Development
As an extension of interactive designs of the CD-ROM days of the early '90s, I have extensive experience within interactive design. These are some of the more recent designs that I have developed.
Walt Disney World | Yeti
Hotel
Objective: Build travel agent
awareness of the new attraction, Expedition
Everest, opening at Disney's Animal Kingdom.
Solution: Developed a multi-prong
approach to inform and excite the Disney Travel
Agents about this new attraction. A story was
developed that played off of the legend of the Yeti
and a relentless explorer destined to uncover the
mysteries surrounding the legend. Collateral
developed for this included custom products shipped
directly to the agents with links provided to this
micro-site.
La Casa del Zorro | Resort
site
Objective: San Diego's only 4
Diamond resort, needed a fresh new look to reflect
the nature of the experience their guests have come
to expect during their stays on property.
Solution: Developed a design that
more closely related to the brand as well as the
surrounding Anza Borrega Desert. The information
architecture remained consistent with the former
site, but the design was refreshed to reflect the
more luxurious brand while also referencing the
natural beauty surrounding the property.
Marriott Hotels | Paradise By
Marriott
Objective: This site was designed
to highlight and promote the portfolio of hotels
within the Caribbean and Mexico. These hotels are
within the overall Marriott family, but they offer
an entirely different experience than the bulk of
the hotels in the chain. The owners wanted the site
to reflect more of the romantic destination and
local flavor a visitor to any one of these
destinations would experience.
Solution: Start with a fresh and
immersive design, couple that with a good user
experience and great photography and shake well.
This site was also a Webby Honoree and Silver Addy
winner.
NYLO Hotels | Corporate site
Objective: NYLO
Hotels is offering a new style of hotel catering to
the business traveler. These are ground-up new
construction and offer custom lodging with a loft
lifestyle. This site was designed to announce their
entry to the market for the trades as well as the
investment community.
Solution: Designed a simple site
with elegant navigation to showcase an idea of the
hotel. Since none were built at this point we
relied on the renderings and photography to convey
the sensibility the client wished to achieve. This
site won a Gold Addy.
The Outer Banks of North
Carolina
Objective: The Outer Banks are a
set of barrier chain islands off the coast of North
Carolina. The CVB
manages all tourism efforts for the destination and
produces a visitor's guide every season. They
needed a more appropriate page to direct their
online marketing efforts that encourage registering
for this guide.
Solution: Working with the current
traditional marketing materials, we produced a
simple landing page that offered a few snippets of
information, that we know the visitor is looking
for, and links to those sections as well as the
ability to register for the guide.
Palazzo del Lago
Objective: The Intercontinental
Hotel is building their largest hotel on the coast
of Lake Bryan, neat the Walt Disney World Resort.
Solution: Design of the site
reflects the marketing materials within the
marketplace to inform the public of the new
developments within the construction phase of the
resort.
Special Olympics Florida
Objective: The ultimate objective
of Special Olympics Florida is to help people with
intellectual disabilities participate as productive
and respected members of society at large, by
offering them a fair opportunity to develop and
demonstrate their skills and talents through sports
training and competition, and by increasing the
public's awareness of their capabilities and needs.
This site was the latest effort in their continuing
evolution as an organization to promote
participation by athletes and volunteers.
Solution: The site needed to speak
to users of all levels, both intellectually and
technologically, while also being entirely
user-administrable. Since the organization wishes
to speak to the largest number of people in the 67
counties across Florida, we designed a site that
was immersive, but one that would also work well
from dial-up and beyond. The open-source Joomla
framework was used to create this site.
Sheraton Orlando North
Objective: Conveniently situated
near Interstate 4 the new Sheraton Orlando North is
centrally located in the heart of North Orlando’s
most prestigious corporate community, the Maitland
Center and next to the RDV Sports Complex, which is
home to the Orlando Magic. The owners wanted to
promote the new, to the studs, restoration of this
hotel for the local market.
Solution: Since the hotel caters
to the local market, business travelers and family
events, we focused on a simple site with a
scrapbook feel to the imagery. Custom
AS was
created for the animations and the site reflects a
simple magazine layout.
Panama City Beach | Sports Lovers
Beach
Objective: Long known for its
sugar white sands and emerald green waters, Panama
City Beach, Florida is now being recognized by
national and international sporting event planners
as an optimum destination for a wide variety of
sporting events. With its moderate year-round
temperatures, conveniently located hotels and top
of the line sports facility, it is evident that
this small beach community is quickly rising to the
top of the game in the world of sporting events.
The need to promote Panama City Beach as a
destination for sporting enthusiasts of all skills
was the goal of this site.
Solution: We produced a site that
focused on the major sporting events that currently
use Panama City Beach as a destination and
incorporated them into the overall look and feel of
the site. The beach was also kept in the design
since it is one of the most appealing aspects of
the destination and a feature that helps
differentiate PCB from the other
sporting locales.
Panama City Beach CVB
Map
Objective: Develop a
simple mapping solution that provides the visitor
an ability to learn about the activities,
amenities, etc. available while visiting Panama
City Beach.
Solution: The solution had to be
simple to operate and easy to maintain so we chose
the Google Map API for the framework to develop
this site. The map uses a database to create the
placements on the map; anyone who can operate Word
can enter map data. Once entered those points
become live on the site, immediately.
Panama City Beach Press
Room
Objective: The needs of any
world-class destination include the ability to
speak directly to media professionals. All too
often that may need to occur in real-time, so we
developed a user-administrable website to promote
all of the press needs of PCB.
Solution: Using the open-source
framework, Drupal, we developed a site that allowed
easy access to all of the press releases and
materials needed to promote PCB. The site is
entirely user-administrable and anyone who can surf
the web, can update and manage this site.
Panama City Beach | Contest
Page
Objective: After a series of
active hurricane seasons, PCB wanted to
increase bookings. A give-away is always an
opportunity to promote the destination.
Solution: A simple page that
reflects the current marketing campaign helped
increase awareness through a targeted online media
campaign directed to this page.
Vista Club Orlando
Objective: The modernly appointed
Vista Club condo-hotel brings chic design and
contemporary styling – previously unavailable in
the area – to Disney’s theme park locale needed a
new site to coincide with the new renovations. Home
to Orlando’s “see and be seen” crowd, Vista Club
will feature a unique pool bar and lounge, the
heart and soul of the property and a destination
unto itself and the design needed to reflect this
sensibility.
Solution: The design of the site
is pure simplicity; an easy navigable site with
expansive photography that sets the tonality for
the property.
YPB&R | 2006 Holiday
Card
Objective: Design an interactive
holiday card for the agency.
Solution: Developed a holiday card
maker that allowed visitors the opportunity to make
their own greeting card and send it to their
friends; generating a certain amount of viral
content. The site was a Gold Addy winner.
