I was having some issues with a SlideshowPro file playing on a Wordpress site. The swf played fine locally and on the server, but would not run when embedded in the Wordpress blog through the standard add media tag. It was driving me up the wall and despite trying to limit the amount of plugins I have on any given WP install, I eventually downloaded the Kimili Flash embed plugin and installed it on the site.

All that I had read lead me to believe this was the solution to the problem I was having; and it was almost. Inserted the swf file as usual and checked out the preview of the page – same result big ugly box of nothing on the site. Researched a little more and remembered there almost always being path issues with SSP and WP, so I added a base=”" tag to the Kimili quick code and voila, the flash content now plays.

There doesn’t seem to be much of a speed hit using this plugin, but having recently pared down my reliance on any type of plugin, I will keep looking for another solution.
